Loma Doom
Loma Doom is an Amsterdam based artist, broadcaster, and educator.
Loma Doom is the moniker of Amsterdam based radio veteran, multidisciplinary artist and educator Femke Dekker. Her work, spanning both music and contemporary art, is marked by curiosity and a distinctive electronic experimentalism that stimulates the mind and body. Avoiding linearity, she creates soundscapes where intuition and understanding meet, drawing from styles predating the computer era, including freak folk, psychedelia, and hardcore punk. This openness veered Dekker into a category of respected deejays in the leftfield underground, having played influential venues such as Salon Des Amateurs, Meakusma and Cafe OTO, amongst others.
Currently, her focus lies in exploring listening as an art form and as a call to action, using radio and archives as her primary media. As an arts educator, she teaches at institutions like the Sandberg Instituut, Design Academy Eindhoven, and the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, and she serves as an artistic research fellow with the Amsterdam-based Visual Methodologies Collective.
